How many times should I brush a day?

The American Dental Association suggest that everyone should brush their teeth two times a day using a quality fluoride toothpaste and for about two minutes. When done brushing the toothbrush should be thoroughly rinsed in order to remove any food particles or bacteria that may be lingering. Replacing a soft bristled toothbrush about every four months is also recommended for keeping a clean healthy mouth.

The American Dental Association suggest that everyone should floss their teeth once a day as this is the best way to remove any plaque that might be building up in between the teeth. Flossing after eating because there happens to be food stuck in the teeth is also recommended because leftover food particles is one of the top reasons for tooth decay. Flossing one's teeth is definitely one of the best ways for dental patients to avoid getting gum disease, as dental floss is able to reach areas that a toothbrush is not.
